====General Rules====
* Discussion of politics and religion are expressly forbidden at TinkerMill or when representing TinkerMill elsewhere.
* If something is not labeled with the owner's name, it belongs to TinkerMill.
* If something belongs to TinkerMill, it doesn't leave TinkerMill except for an official TinkerMill off-site event.
* If you get it out, clean it and put it back when you are done.
* If you break it or it breaks while you are using it, leave a note on it and notify the appropriate [[Shop_Captains|Shop Captain]] or the [[User:Ron.Thomas|Executive Director]] so it can be repaired.
* TinkerMill members have access to the space 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
* TinkerMill is open to the public whenever a TinkerMill member is present in the space.
* Some tools and machines require training or certification before use. All certification-required tools will be labeled as such.
* Equipment that is not labeled as requiring certification is available for use by the general public.

We have two classes on the Nardini lathe, a 101 that only covers collet work with manual feed, a 201 that covers the chuck, mechanical feed and threading. We also combine the 101 & 201 classes for experienced lathe operators. Check with @sebastian.wessels on Slack if you qualify for the combo class. We drop the part where you do manual threading with a tap on the lathe when we combine the classes. The 101 class consists of the video below and then the in-person part where the instructor verifies that the student is capable after watching the video.

Class fees is what keeps our shops running. We use the fees to improve the shop and buy consumables. Membership fees pays the mortgage, heating and cooling etc.

A '''shop captain''' (or co-captain) is a dedicated volunteer who leads a shop at TinkerMill. The shop captains are responsible for maintaining the shops and helping to ensure that shops are successful and of value to the community. Shop captains can delegate tasks to other members who volunteer to be "shop champions".

Shop captains are not paid. They are volunteers who are offering their time and expertise to help the community. We are always looking for volunteers to help. So, if you are interested in being a shop captain or helping a shop captain, please reach out and let us know.

== Shop Captain Responsibilities ==

Here is the list of activities and duties that shop captains perform:
* Engage in ongoing communications about the shop with TinkerMill members, other shop captains, admin team, and the general public
* Engage in monthly admin meetings
* Prepare and follow an annual financial budget
* Submit purchasing requests on behalf of shop

* Ensure that the shop is clean, organized, and safe
* Ensure that all shop equipment and tools are maintained in good working order
* Ensure that all shop equipment and tools are inventoried regularly
* Ensure that certification classes are offered regularly
* Maintain a schedule of classes and events
* Maintain an accurate roster of certification classes, instructors, and certified members for certification-required tools and equipment,
* Maintain an adequate stock of consumable shop supplies
